A day out in nature, walking up the hills make you feel great and energetic
but going for a long distance walk is something different. You get to explore
the Scottish countryside from a different perspective and after completing a
long distance walk there is an enormous sense of achievement. We are lucky in
Scotland to have such fantastic range of the long distance walks. You can enjoy
the trail in parts on a family day out or on your own or tackle the whole trail
over multiple days.
The long distance walks in Scotland are very characteristic with
great length and scenery which provide great opportunity to discover Scotland
on foot or by bike. Most of the trails are well waymarked, mostly off road and
free from traffic and have visitor services and shops along the way. Also it is
great opportunity for wild camping to get an ever greater sense of the Scottish
outdoors. If camping is not for you there are plenty bed and breakfast and
luxury accommodations along the route.
Luggage
transfer service is also available for most of the trails which is a great
service for someone who wants it a little bit easier. Some Scottish long
distance trails such as West Highland Way has become very popular for
fundraising challenges. See below a list of some of the great Scottish trails.
There are plenty of source available on line if you interested. The walk
highlands website provide wide range of information for the trails.
